Soft Touch
The SOFT TOUCH system from UNITROL is a revolutionary, fully passive safety system designed to protect spot welder operators from serious pinch point injuries without sacrificing production efficiency. When a weld is initiated, the welding electrodes first close under low force (75 pounds or less). The control then checks to detect metal between the electrodes; if metal is not detected, the electrodes automatically open and do not apply full welding force, but if metal is detected, full welding force is applied, and the weld proceeds normally. This fail-safe, non-bypassable, electronic sensing system is accepted by OSHA compliance officers and even provides protection during maintenance procedures like electrode dressing and replacement.
